5Rob Colson was an 8-year Madison County Commission Republican incumbent.
6Mo Brooks was outspent 20-1 by Luther Strange and 10-1 by George Wallace, yet received more votes than Strange & Wallace combined in the 5th Congressional District. Statewide, however, the results were Strange 48%, Wallace 33%, Brooks 16% and Adams 3%. The lesson from this race: never be badly outspent again.

Vote Mo Brooks for Congress in the 5th District of Alabama on Nov 2nd.
For many decades, America has been the greatest nation in history. We’ve enjoyed economic wealth and a national defense that are the envy of the world. America is not great because of mere luck, nor because egocentric Washingtonians know more about what is best for us than we do. America is great because of our foundational principles and our faith in individuals and families.
Unfortunately, America’s foundational principles are under attack. To remain a great nation, we must defend our free enterprise system and personal liberty from those who promote socialism and government power over families and freedom. We must defend our moral values that have guided us so well. We must promote frugality and economic wisdom and reject the reckless unsustainable budget deficits that threaten America’s economy and future.
In sum, America faces the worst crisis of our lifetimes. Alarmingly, our crisis originates from within our borders: in Congress and the White House.
Our ancestors worked hard and sacrificed much to make the America we enjoy. Now we must invest our time, energy, and resources to protect America’s future. Our best days can be ahead of us â€" but only if we return to the principles that made America great.
As your Congressman, I will focus government on its proper role in our lives. Our fight begins with defending our liberties preserved in the Bill of Rights. It continues with working to ensure we are protected by a strong national defense (my #1 priority). I understand and will strive to protect the free enterprise system that made America an economic superpower. I will stand firm against unsustainable budget deficits that are nothing more than generational theft that threatens our children’s futures.
North Alabama must have a congressman who has a proven track record of advocating this type of government. We must send a person to Washington who understands the struggle and who has been a consistent and reliable stand-bearer. We must have a leader who knows what his principles are and who stands by them. We need a person who knows this election is about saving the America our ancestors risked and sacrificed so much to create.
